Just returned from the Riu Ocho Rios. It is so beautiful. The beach area is plentiful. Great snorkeling right off the beach. This resort was never over-crowded which we feared being an 800 room resort.

The bus trip from the airport wasn’t that bad. Very educational to see how they live. Makes you appreciate what you have back at home. They do stop half-way to let you stretch your legs and get a drink or food to eat. On the return trip, the air conditioner was broke on the bus so that didn’t make for a comfortable ride but we all survived.

Check-in was fast and smooth. We were in our rooms within 10 minutes of arriving at the resort.

The drinks were fabulous. There is a drink menu at every bar if you want to try something new. We drank a lot of Rum Cream, Red Stripe, Pina Colada, and Miami Vice. All were great. Bring along an insulated mug as it is good advice.

The food is good too. We mostly ate at St. Ann’s Buffet. We did make reservations one night at Mammee but the food was cold and took an hour to receive it. We did eat at the jerk hut at noon and that was some excellent jerk chicken. The sauce was hot and spicey but good. Breakfast was always good with made to order omlets.

We did go on a Dunn’s River Falls/Snorkeling tour which was 3 hours long and $49.00 a person. This was booked on our beach at Scuba Caribe. Had a lot of fun on that since it was just the 6 of us on that boat and the rum punch was strong!

We bought t-shirts and necklaces off the vendors on the beach. They were not pushy. They had to stay close to the water and the security guards were always walking along the beach. Lots of drug dealers too out there but just don’t make eye contact and your okay.

Entertainment was okay. We didn’t see a whole lot as we were always sitting at a bar. The resort staff was always busy cleaning. Very friendly.

The rooms were also big. We were on the 5th floor so had a beautiful sight off our balcony.

We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone as Jamaica is a place to go for some rest and and relaxation. No worries Mon!!!
