Iberostar Paraiso del Mar Review - 03272007

We just got back from the Del Mar early this month and absolutely loved the entire vacation. My wife and sons ( aged 6 and 10 ) had a fantastic time from start to finish. It was an asset that the weather was perfect every day, but even without that, it would have been great.

The flight was on time and we breezed through the Cancun airport. The shuttle left on time and had some nice cold Corona’s to drink for the ride…( $3 ) It was comfortable and relaxing.

The check in was fast and excellent. I was told that we were upgraded to a junior suite and it ended up we were right on the beach…..it was amazing.( building 10 ground floor ) Waking up in the morning and having a coffee on the patio with the sound and sights of the ocean crashing in. It was paradise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That said, a junior suite isn’t some huge upgrade other than the location….it’s only a tad bigger etc. but with the 4 of us, it helped. When we got to the room and asked for a few things, they arrived in minutes….impressive.
*****If only the shuttles could have been that responsive HA HA

The Food was good every where we ate. I wouldn’t say it was the best we ever had, but we tried the Brazilian and Mexican restaurants and liked them both very much. We did the buffets every other night and thought it was really good…..I’ve scene more variety at other resorts, but what was there was good. For lunch, we stuck to casual eating at the beach hut or around the pool. It was all good with no complaints. – Face it, if the kids can fill up without complaints and we can enjoy some nice food……….. its hard to be upset.
( I wasn’t looking for or wanting 5* gormet lunch’s. ) If you are, get a grip and please go somewhere else.!! Chances are you aren’t having fun anywhere you go.

The beach was great and groomed every morning…..saw it myself from my room.
People talked about needing water shoes…..if you’re bringing young kids, maybe, but other than that, just pick a nice spot to go in and you’ll be fine. There were a few spots that had rocks but most of the beach was perfect. We had no problems. For a fun activitiy, grab a few buns at the beach snack bar and try feeding the fish…..you don’t have to look for them, throw the food in and they’ll find you….it was a blast.

The pool and pool activities were great. Pool is something you have to see for yourself…..stunning and huge. Some nice people left us their floating rafts and we used them all week and passed them on to others as well. ( Thanks )
My boys loved the Star Friends and kept busy with all the games and dancing and swimming etc all day. It was a perfect blend of relaxation and fun……and maybe a few cocktails along the way.

The only improvement would have been more shuttles for the walk home at night after the show with 2 tired kids. We managed but it would have helpful to have them run after 11:00pm.

Overall, the vacation was an ….A+…. for all of us and the kids want to go back already.
I’ve been to the RIU’s and Bahia Principe on the Mayan and this is by far the only place I want to go back to and would do it again in a heartbeat.

It was a true paradise that I guarantee wouldn’t dissappoint anyone. You would have to work pretty hard to “not” have a good time……… and if you’re like that, you wouldn’t be happy anywhere.
